We used Power BI to create a ZTC data dashboard for BCIT. Since our BCIT checkbox launched in Course Outlines in 2025, we have been able to analyze the 2025S, 2025F, and 2026W terms.

Key Facts

For the three terms studied, 29% of course outlines were marked ZTC. This means 2100 out of 7236 courses.

As the project ran, ZTC adoption grew. In Summer 2025, 19.8% of course outlines were ZTC. This grew to 29.8% in Fall 2025, and then to 34.5% in Winter 2026.

639 individual instructors have marked a course ZTC so far. Fall 2025 had our largest increase in ZTC instructors, with 292 instructors marking a course ZTC for the first time.

We analyzed course subject codes and found the following had 100% ZTC course outlines:

  • Automotive Collision Repair/Refinish Technician (ABOD)
  • Astronomy (ASTR)
  • Basic Health Sciences (BSCH)
  • Nursing Specialty High Acuity (NSHA)
  • Nursing in Canada (NSIN)
  • REES, Building Energy Model & Simulation (XBEM)
  • Broadcast and Media Communications (XBST)
  • Sonography Microcredential (XDMS)
  • Marine Emergency Duties (XMED)
